I am trying to follow the discussion associated with adding a kernel extension to enable a boot loader to "see" and format a SSD, despite lack of AHCI defined in the motherboard (BIOS?) If it is a software feature then AHCI can be added. This question is posed because a Dell Optiplex 390 does not have AHCI.
